2011 record year for trade between Germany and Russia – volume over 70 billion Euros
Trade between Europe's two largest countries developed very positively in 2011. The German exports to Russia increased by around 30 percent, while imports rose by 26 percent. Gazprom Group’s net profit expected to grow 25 per cent in 2011 versus 2010
As a result of geological exploration carried out by Gazprom in 2011, the natural gas reserve increment hit the record level of 686.4 billion cubic meters surpassing the production level by 33.8 per cent. A half of the increment was secured by geological exploration in Eastern Russia (Sakhalin shelf inclusive) where Gazprom is shaping new gas production centers. Moreover, according to latest updates, Gazprom Group produced 513.2 billion cubic meters of gas in the reported year showing a 4.6 billion cubic meter increase as compared to the same figure of 2010 – 508.6 billion cubic meters.

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has in 2011 mobilized 74 investors to invest in special economic zones in Russia. Prime Minister Putin sums up Russia's economic success in 2011
The growth of Russia's gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 4.2 percent in 2011, said an obviously satisfied Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. "Russia occupies the third position when it comes to global GDP growth after China (9.5 percent) and India (7.8 percent)". Breakthrough in WTO talks between Russia and Georgia
On the road to membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO), Russia and Georgia have taken a long step further. The Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergi Kapanadse said on Thursday to the news agency AFP that Moscow accepts a deal that Switzerland has mediated between the two parties.
